Online MCLE Education
by: Fern L. Burnett

If you would like to check out the quality of online MCLE articles, go to www.dailyjournal.com. This web site has articles taken from the California Lawyer which can be read and a self-assessment test turned in for MCLE credits. You submit the test along with a $20 payment to obtain the MCLE credit. However, if you don't want to take the test, the articles themselves are good reading and give useful information.

Recent articles found were "The Right to Sue HMO's", "Slapping Down SLAPP Suits", "Wills", "Civil Rights", "Child Protection", "Motions in Limine", "Millennium Rules of Court", and "The Ethics of Criminal Defense." The archives hold more articles which are linked for quick access.

If you want to submit the test for MCLE credit, mark "paralegal" where it requests a State Bar Number. As a practicing paralegal, make sure to keep a record of all MCLE credits received in case you are asked to prove your compliance with Business and Professions Code 6450 (AB 1761).
