CAPA Update
by Diedre M. Wilton, CAPA Representative

Charlene Bullock and I traveled to San Luis Obispo for the two-day board meeting, February 2-3, 2002. The following is a summary of the highlights of the meeting.

New Member Orientation
It is the Primary and Secondary Representatives' responsibility to report back to the individual members after each board meeting.

B & P §6450
There was much discussion regarding the efforts of another organization to amend B & P §6450. The board agreed to focus on educating the public, lawyers, and judges and formed the Legislative Promotion Committee, who will contact all attorneys and all District Attorneys in California regarding the specifics of the new law, enforcement, etc.

2002 Goals
1. Promotion of Paralegal Profession
2. MCLE
3. Bar Relations

TAECAN.COM
CAPA has entered into a contract with www. Taecan.com to provide MCLE courses online at a reduced rate for CAPA members. Please review and let me know if you have any suggestions, comments, or complaints.

2002 JUNE Conference
The 14th Annual Educational Conference is Saturday, June 22, 2002 in Burlingame. Call (800) 827-0880 immediately to make your hotel reservations and mail your registration for the conference by may 24, 2002 for a $20 discount.

2001 Leadership Conference
The 2001 Leadership Conference on November 3, 2001 was very successful with 36 attending who received 5.5 units of MCLE credits. The 2003 Leadership Conference will be at Bass Lake on November 1, 2003.

State Bar Annual Meeting
The Annual State Bar Convention will be in Monterey October 10-13, 2002. If you are interested in working an hour or two, please let me know. You will be granted free admission to any of the seminars.

RECAP
The RECAP Editor is always looking for new substantive articles to publish. If you are interested in submitting an article for RECAP, please let me know.

MEETING LOCATIONS FOR 2003
The CAPA February 2003 Board Meeting will be held in Ventura; the June 2003 Conference and Board Meeting will be held in Los Angeles; and the November 2003 Leadership Conference and Board Meeting will be held at Bass Lake.
