Modern Technology Can Be Tricky.
Several years ago there was an intern who was none too swift. One day he was typing and turned to a secretary and said "I'm almost out of typing paper. What do I do?" "Just use copier machine paper," she told him. With that, the intern took his last remaining blank piece of paper, put it on the photocopier and proceed to make five blank copies.

Fun Facts About Lawyers and Law

  1. What two famous American lawyers never went to law school?
  2. What year was the American Bar Association founded?
  3. On what date is National Law Day celebrated?

(Answers) 1. Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865), President, and Clarence Darrow (1857-1938), defense attorney in the Scope trial of 1925. While he attended law school for one year, he did not distinguish himself and preferred to study law on his own. He received the greater part of his education in a law office in Youngstown Ohio.

2. The ABA was founded on August 21, 1878, in Saratoga Springs, New York, by 100 lawyers from 21 states. The legal profession as we know it today barely existed at that time. Lawyers were generally sold practitioners who trained under a system of apprenticeship. There was no national code of ethics, there was no national organization to serve as a forum for discussion of the increasingly intricate issues involved in legal practice.
