NALA's 27th ANNUAL CONVENTION UPCOMING IN JULY

July 10-13 is the date for the National Association of Legal Assistants 27th annual convention. It will be held at the Hyatt Regency Savannah, Georgia. There will be six educational tracks, exhibitors of legal goods and services, and a slate of social and Association business activities.

The keynote address for the convention will be delivered by Michael R. Arkfeld, Esq., nationally acclaimed author and Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona's Civil Division in Phoenix. Arkfeld is a frequent lecturer on the impact of technology in the practice of law. His book, The Digital Practice of Law, is in its fifth edition. The keynote speech is entitled "Practicing Law in the 21st Century" and will stress the need for members of the legal profession to embrace technology.

Among other prominent speakers will be:

Virginia Koerselman, Esq., author of the CLA Review Manual and co-author of the CLA Study Guide and Mock Examination.

Karen Sanders-West, a former president of NALA, and familiar instructor in CLA review courses.

Amy J. Hill, CLAS, is a former president of NALA and has served as Chair of the national Certifying Board for Legal Assistants. Other speakers will cover areas of Civil Litigation, Corporate Law, Real Estate/Title Insurance, Family Law, and Professional Development.

Annual business meetings, including election of officers and regional directors, a two-day vendor exhibition, and a social agenda including a tour of Savannah's historic district will round out the convention.
