Paralegal  Membership in State Bar

The Executive Committee of the State Bar of California Solo & Small Firm Section has passed a resolution to allow paralegals to join its section of the State Bar. This can be viewed as tremendous progress toward greater respect and affirmation for the paralegal profession. We can feel honored to be welcomed into the State Bar of California on this level. A major benefit is that continuing legal education opportunities are offered to members at a discounted rate. This affiliation will also provide opportunities to become involved with the State Bar and to network with others in the legal profession. The annual fee for paralegals to join the Solo & Small Firm Section of the State Bar is a reduced rate of $35, which includes receipt of the bimonthly publication, Big News (look for column entitled "Paralegal Corner"), and CEB and MCLE discounts. For information about becoming a member, contact Carolyn Yellis, CAPA Solo & Small Firm Section Representative (cyellis@aol.com).
