President's Message
by Charlene Bullock

A special thanks to board members Deborah Badigian, Carol O’Neil and husband Barry, M. Diedre Wilton and her beau, and to non-members Kathleen DeSantis, Esq., Angel Smiley, Leslie LeMon, Vikki Savaria, and Susan from the courts for all of their assistance in the drink area at the Big Bar Picnic on Saturday, May 10. And a big big thank you to Mary Fleming, Sharon Tovar, Brenda Rocha, Alice Higman, Dawn Donovan, Shannon Farley and Eryn Gardner from Appleby & Co. who prepared and served up the food. It is for sure that SJALA could not do without the help of members and non-members who choose to donate their time and have a little fun at the same time so that SJALA can fulfill its obligations to other organizations. The weather was perfect, there were 449 people this year, and a great time was had by all.

The next event requiring some work will be the Leadership Conference in November at Bass Lake. The CAPA board is looking forward to that event in the mountains above Fresno, and a good turnout from the local area.

The time has flown by quickly this year. It is hard to believe that summer is upon us already. School will be getting out soon, summer vacations will be taking place, and the June conference on the 21st in Hollywood will be enjoyed by several members who are carpooling together for the weekend event.

As mentioned in the special article in this newsletter, there will be no June general membership meeting.

The members are encouraged to begin thinking about who they want to sit as officers and directors next year as most of the Board will be retiring at the end of the year. It is rewarding to serve as an officer or director, and the challenges are many.

Hope you all have a great summer. Be safe and have fun.
