Serving Papers at Prisons

Have you ever tried to serve someone who is an inmate of one of California’s state prisons? It may not be as hard as you think. The prison itself has a Litigation Coordinator. Do your search on the internet to find the address and telephone number of the state prison. Call the prison and ask for the Litigation Coordinator’s office. First, they will verify that the inmate is indeed there. You mail the Coordinator the documents along with a proof of service. They will serve the papers and mail the proofs back to you. Wasco Prison has a turn-around time of approximately two weeks once they receive the papers from you. It may end up being easier to serve, and cheaper.
