Baker Manock & Jensen PC seeks an experienced civil litigation paralegal to join our litigation practice group.
Job Duties:
Gather, analyze and organize information, legal pleadings, discovery and other documents pertaining to litigation files. Prepare draft pleadings attorney review. Handle litigation files as directed. Review subpoenas, court orders and discovery requests received during litigation and coordinate the collection of data within the established deadlines. Perform routine legal research such as law digests, legal encyclopedias, national/local codes, practice manuals and computer based legal research. Contact opposing counsel, experts and others in the preparation for litigation.
Job Qualifications:
- Candidate must have a minimum of three years' experience in civil litigation practice;
- A working knowledge of civil litigation specific issues & terminology;
- Large database and electronic document management experience;
- Strong research and writing skills;
- The successful candidate will be organized, self-motivated, and a team player;
- Must posses a working knowledge of state and federal court rules and practice;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Be able to prepare various types of reports utilizing Word/Excel/WordPerfect;
- Proficient w/ Legal Solutions;
- Experience w/Trial Director Software a plus.

Litigation Support Specialist
McCormick Barstow LLP seeks a professional proficient in litigation support software and workflow for in house document imaging, processing, court presentations and user training. Must be proficient in related technologies, have an understanding of courtroom needs during trial and meet the California Business and Professions Code § 6450(a) definition of paralegal. Bachelors degree, or equivalent preferred. Salary depends on experience. Position available immediately.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Upload images, OCR text, e-Docs and document metadata into litigation support software using various load file formats;
- Provide knowledgeable estimates of level of effort, projecting time for all assignments;
- Meet established project deadlines
- Work closely with attorneys, paralegals and other litigation staff to manage priority levels of all assignments;
- Provide quality control on all project deliverables;
- Quarantine and duplicate media;
- Assist litigation staff with litigation software needs
- Participate in the discussions with outside parties regarding the production of data, including the format of the data to be produced, and how it will be prepared and delivered; and
- Provide training to litigation personnel on all litigation support software packages
- Meet with attorneys and paralegals to determine requirements and case specifics
- Create new databases in litigation support software
- Act as liaison between IT and litigation teams
- Operate presentation software in trials (state and federal), arbitrations and mediations
Qualifications:
- Ability to achieve standing as defined by California Business and Professions Code § 6450(a) – Certification preferred.
- Bachelor's degree or higher education in a related field is desired
- Proficient with CT Summation® databases, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and Outlook applications, Sanction
- Solid presentation and training skills a must;
- Working knowledge of job related computer software, i.e. imaging, presentation and database technologies
- Proficient with electronic discovery applications, such as iPro eScanIT
- Working knowledge of legal terminology;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Solid time management, organization, and prioritization skills;
- Ability to meet deadlines, make effective decisions, and follow through;
- A self-starter with demonstrated ability to multi-task, juggle priorities, and work effectively under pressure;
- Ability to work occasional overtime
- Ability to travel some
- Working knowledge of courtroom as well as alternative dispute resolution procedures and etiquette
